Many Peperomia species are appreciated for their striking foliage, although only one species can take the cake. Peperomia argyreia with its beautiful white colored leaves is a very good candidate for this. This species is also known as the Watermelon Peperomia, because of its leaves similarity in appearance to the rind of a watermelon. Peperomia argyreia is very easy to care for.

Peperomia argyreia is domestic to Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela. The species has oval leaves with a silver-green color pattern. These are thickened and feel sturdy. It has a fairly modest compact size, makeing it ideal for terrariums. Peperomia argyreia flowers very unusually, with sturdy red stems, on which grow several white cones consisting of many flowers.
Peperomia argyreia is best placed in partial shade, out of direct sunlight. In a terrarium, however, the species will do well under artificial lighting. Room temperature is optimal for this species. Be careful with large temperature fluctuations. Give the plant a small amount of rain or distilled water when the soil starts to dry out. Peperomia argyreia thrives in high humidity. To prevent root rot, use a substrate of light plant soil and perlite. This mixture guarantees good drainage. Prune if the plant grows to large.
