Passiflora cirrhiflora originates from the warm and humid tropical forests of French Guiana. This plant is a liana and grows vigorously, using trees as support. It grows vines from the stems where it clasps branches with. The leaves are composed of seven distinguishable leaflets and have a dark green color. Flowers appear from the stems and reach a maximum size of 20 cm in diameter, which is exceptionally large for this family. Tepals are mostly yellow to canary, the center of the flower is red. One of the most remarkable aspects of this flower is the bright yellow, undulating corona. The androgynophore is faint green. The fruits are approximately 5 cm and have a mint green color when mature. To propagate this plant, take cuttings of sow the mature seeds in airy soil and keep warm, preferable in summer.
Passiflora cirrhiflora has a particular care sheet. The most important factor is temperature, which always should be above 18 degrees Celsius or warmer, also in winter. Place the plant in an environment with lots of light and a humidity of above 60%. Only with long exposure to direct sunlight, it could be shaded a bit. Good locations are warm greenhouses or a southern facing window. Use soil that is very airy, but at the same time can hold moisture. Prevent that the soil is staying wet for too long, it could cause root rot. In winter, this plant could dry up a bit in between waterings. When growing actively, provide this species with ample fertilizer. In the growing season, fertilizer for green plants could be given at half the recommended strength.
