Pachira aquatica is a plant with a large spread, from Mexico to Bolivia. There Pachira aquatica grows on terrain which floods regularly. The large spread indicates the plant easily adapts. In nature, this plant grows up to a maximum of 20 meters high.
This plant can be taken good care of in a tropical terrarium or paludarium. Ensure it receives a lot of light and maintain high humidity. As the scientific name suggests, this plant loves water. The roots can thus be kept thoroughly moist. But, this plant can also survive with a little less water. Because Pachira aquatica can also be kept a little dryer, it is very well-suited for a living room. If the plant must stay compact, regular pruning is recommended.
