The Polystachya maculata is an African orchid which is originally found in Burundi. It grows in the forests of Burundi at a height of 1500 meter. The yellow flowers are covered with red speckles and are around 2,5 cm in size. The flowers bloom for about 4 weeks and are able to bloom multiple times a year (when cared for correctly).
Make sure you water the plant regularly during the summer, but reduce watering during the winter to once every two weeks. Make sure to keep the orchid humid enough by using a plant spray or a humidifier. It would be best to place it in a bright spot where it isn’t exposed to direct sunlight. The ideal temperature for the Polystachya maculata lies between 15°C and 22°C.
