This miniature orchid will feel at home in a cool spot on a windowsill or in a damp terrarium with sufficient light. With proper care, Pleurothallis picta will regularly produce flowers, which appear on the graceful vertically growing flowering branches. The flowers are colored bright yellow and therefore provide extra color in the terrarium. Pleurothallis picta is a good plant for beginners because of its easy care.

Due to the large natural habitat of this plant, namely Central America and northern South America, this mini orchid is very adaptable. In the wild, Pleurothallis picta grows on (fern)trees in moist forests. This plant prefers a light spot in a terrarium, growing mounted on a tree fern or bark. The roots should always be able to absorb enough water and dry slightly between waterings. Once the plant is accustomed to its environment, it will flower abundantly with small, striking yellow flowers.
Place the Pleurothallis picta in a light spot. Mist regularly preferably with osmosis water. Additional fertilizing isn't necessary. Give this orchid an airy substrate or place the mini orchid on fern root or an epiphyte covered branch. If the plant is not in a substrate with enough moisture put Sphagnum around the roots to keep moist.
