Naturally, Masdevallia attenuata grows as an epiphyte on mossy branches of trees. They grow in mountainous areas between 300- and 2400-meters altitude. This species grows best in cool conditions, but it handles warmer temperatures up to 27 degrees Celsius as well. Always provide high humidity and excellent air flow. Situate this plant at a shady spot, without direct sunlight. Use an airy substrate mix for epiphytes that holds lots of moisture. The use of sphagnum moss is recommended.
