Amongst other places, Ludisia discolor is found in Indonesia, at altitudes ranging from 500 to 1000 m. The plant is accustomed to tropical temperatures (22-28 degrees Celsius at night). The most striking about this orchid ludisia discolor is the venous dark green leaf, that has a velvety touch. The veins can be either pink or a silvery white . The flowers are always white with a yellow accent in the center.
In nature Ludisia discolor alba grows in shady areas in cloudy forests. Although temperatures feel tropical there, the orchid is not used to a lot of light. The plant can grow on both earth and rock surface, as long as it is in the proximity of a river. A steady supply of water is therefore necessary. Offer plenty of shadow and a high humidity . With a night temperature averaging between 22-28 degrees Celsius the plant grows optimally. During the day the temperature can be even 5 degrees warmer.
