Kefersteinia graminea grows close to the ground on other plants. It is found in the tropical rainforests of Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and Ecuador. In contrast to many other orchids, it doesn't have any bulbs. The leaves are slender and form a point at the tip. Each blossom Kefersteinia graminea will produce up to 3 lime green flowers with dark purple blotches.
Kefersteinia graminea is slightly more complicated to keep than other orchids, which makes its blossoming flowers much more rewarding. The ideal temperature for Kefersteinia graminea is around 20⁰C. At night this may drop to 12⁰C. Don't let the temperature drop below 10⁰C or rise above 25⁰C. The plant should be kept in the shade, as this best resembles its natural habitat. The humidity should be between 70 to 80%, with slightly more humid nights. For the best results, water the plant using rainwater or distilled water whenever the substrate dries slightly. In practice this will be watering three to five times a week. A proper humidity is essential to keep Kefersteinia graminea safe from infections and disease. Orchid-mix will be a suitable substrate. You can find this and other components in our ‘Plant Accessories’ section. Make sure moisture is able to drain from it. This orchid needs little or no fertilizer. Old flowers can be cut from the plant.
