Many Dendrochilum species are small in stature. The flowers, on the other hand, are so abundant that they more than make up for their size. Dendrochilum glumaceum is one of the more robust species in its genus when you consider the size of the leaves. The flowers of the husk-like dendrochilum are arranged one above the other in two rows distributed over the entire flower stem. This results in a plant with a very orderly appearance. Dendrochilum glumaceum can grow up to a meter wide.
Place Dendrochilum glumaceum in a light place that receives occasional sunlight. Keep the humidity around 80% and the temperature between 15⁰C and 35⁰C, with 28 being the optimum temperature. Water the plant with rain or distilled water, when the substrate has dried slightly. This, as well as good humidity, helps to prevent infections and diseases. Orchid mix is a suitable substrate. Make sure that water can easily drain from this. Orchid mix and other growing supplies can be found under our 'plant accessories' section. Dendrochilum glumaceum needs little or no fertilizer. Remove dead flowers from the plant.
