The Kalanchoe delagoensis is a spectacular plant native to Madagascar. It is a totally green plant, family of the succulents. Various of its branches develop from a central stem, which makes the whole plant look like a small tree. At the tip of every branch grows a small bunch of rounded leaves. When the plant is in bloom it develops a very large cluster of orange flowers. This looks very spectacular, since the difference in size between the cluster of flowers and the actual plant is enormous.
The Kalanchoe delagoensis is an easy-care plant with preference for a light spot. It is quite capable of withstanding drought, yet it is advisable to keep the plant moist during the growing season. In winter, when there is little to no growth, the soil may be allowed to dry out. Indoors this plant will thrive the whole year round. In the garden or on a balcony the Kalanchoe delagoensis can only be kept at temperatures above freezing point. The potting soil for this plant should be permeable and for example consist of a mix of coarse sand and potting soil. This Araflora plant is for decoration only, not for consumption: parts of the Kalanchoe delagoensis are poisonous.
