Huperzia salvinioides 'Lycopodium spec borneo' - Lyco10
This “primitive” plant, one of the smaller members of the Huperzia family, is native to the Phillipines, Taiwan and Japan. It is ideal for a modest-sized terrarium or glasshouse. Huperzia salvinioides is usually fuller than other types but its most unusual feature is that its stems are often very widely branched.

Huperzia salvinioides stays relatively small and manageable. It needs to be positioned as a hanging plant with enough room to grow down towards the ground. The fact that it has so many stems gives it a very full appearance. Huperzia salvinioides forms spores at the base of its leaves rather than producing flowers.
Huperzia salvinioides is relatively easy to cultivate. Plants need to be watered every three days but the potting ground must not become saturated. Pebbles in the bottom of the pot will ensure good drainage and help to prevent rot or infection, as will good air circulation. Huperzia salvinioides needs plenty of light but should not be subjected to direct sunlight or fierce bright light. Plants require a relatively high level of humidity at a temperature between 15⁰ C and 30⁰ C. The best substrate consists of peat or sphagnum moss. A moderate amount of fertiliser will promote plant growth. Pruning is not advisable.
