Asplenium nidus ‘Fimbriatum’ is a striking and unusual fern that grows in the shape of a goblet. Its bright-green, deeply segmented and often crinkled leaves make it an eye-catching feature of a room or a cool conservatory. This fern likes plenty of light but must be kept away from direct sunlight. It is a dramatic addition to a contemporary room where green plants are once again a fashionable feature.
The potting compost must be kept moist but never excessively wet. The slender fronds may acquire brown edges in a space with a low level of humidity. To produce the required level of humidity, simply place the plant’s pot on an inverted dish on top of a second dish containing water. As the water evaporates it will create additional humidity. In general ferns do not require much extra feeding.
