Faucaria tigrina', also called 'tiger jaw', is only found in Eastern Cape in South Africa where it grows in shrublands between the rocks while the trees hold back the worst sun. This comes close to the conditions in front of a window. Faucaria tigrina generally does not grow much taller than 8 cm in diameter, but has an enormous, yellow flower. The plant itself is also beautiful because of the colours described above and the particularly shaped leaves. The leaves are triangular with spines to collect dew.
Because it is such a small plant It is important that the soil is allowed to dry out between watering, so that there is no root rot. Make sure that the plants are in an airy soil, without peat in it. Faucaria tigrina likes the full sun. It will come to rest during the winter and needs little or no water. Keep the Faucaria tigrina cooler (no more than 5°C) during the winter to promote flowering.
