The Colocasia x Black Magic is a caudex plant. The ‘Black Magic’ has beautiful, dark leaves which can grow to be around 40 to 50 cm long. The plant is also known as the ‘Black Elephant Ears’ or the ‘Taro’. Initially you can keep the plant indoors, but don’t hesitate to take it outside once the summer begins. The impressive dark color of the plant can make for a beautiful contrast next to bright flowers or plants with light colored leaves.
The Colocasia x Black Magic thrives in direct sunlight. A spot near a window would be perfect, or you can take the plant outside during the summer months. Make sure the soil doesn’t dry out too much in between watering. The ideal temperature for the ‘Black Magic’ lies around 16 to 25 degrees Celsius. Be careful, temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius will likely be a bit too much to handle for this plant.
