Plant information: Coconut palm 'Cocos nucifera'

The Coconut Palm is a well-known palm tree from which coconuts develop. It is symbolic of tropical islands and beaches but then of a size that fits into your living-room. In its natural habitat the Coconut Palm can grow to a height of 35 metres, but inside 2 metres is the maximum. You can also grow a Coconut Palm on your balcony or terrace but only at temperatures above 15˚ Celsius [ 59˚F ] also at night. A nice detail: this plant still has the coconut from which it germinated lying at its foot. Apart from this palm ARAFLORA supplies all sorts of other species of palms. Plant care: Coconut palm 'Cocos nucifera'

Coconut palms prefer being in bright sunlight and do better in warm surroundings. It is also better not to re-pot these plants straightaway. This palm needs only little water, once a week is enough without there being danger of the potting soil drying out. In spring this exotic plant may need a little extra fertilizer. The Coconut Palm prefers a room temperature between the 15˚to 35˚Celsius [59˚to 95˚F]. The plant can be moved out-doors if the outside temperature is above 15˚C [59˚F]. A palm on your balcony or terrace gives you the feeling of being in a tropical paradise.
