The Cissus discolor originates from the humid forests of Borneo and Java, where it grows as a vine up trees in the filtered rainforest light. In the wild, it uses its tendrils to cling to branches and shady rock faces. In cultivation, it is valued as a hanging plant, climber, or terrarium plant. It thrives in a warm, humid environment with ample light and can grow several meters tall indoors .
