This remarkable orchid originates from Yunnan, Sikkim, Assam, and parts of Myanmar, where it grows on trees in lowland forests with a moderate to cool climate. The plant is also known as Rothschild’s Bulbophyllum, named after the famous English banking family Rothschild, who were passionate orchid enthusiasts.
