This striking carnivore is found throughout most of Southeast Asia. It is a species that is easy to take care of and its needs make it ideal for your terrarium. Utricularia minutissima is quite small when compared to other bladderwort. It is no less special, because Utricularia minutissima carries many beautiful light purple flowers above a mossy foliage.

Utricularia minutissima originates from Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Australia. The carnivorous plant grows there on muddy and sandy ground on open spaces. The name 'bladderwort' means it catches small prey with bladders which are found right above the ground. Utricularia minutissima has a great collection of lilac flowers with a yellow spot growing from long flower stalks. A terrarium can mimic the ideal climate for this species.
Utricularia minutissima needs a light spot, just like its natural habitat. A high humidity and a temperature around 25⁰C is also important. Keep the substrate very moist using rainwater or distilled water. Keep the substrate nice and moist with rainwater of distilled water. This substrate is ideally a mixture of peat moss and perlite or pumice. You can find this and other components in our ‘Plant Accessories’ section. Put the leaves under a layer of water regularly, making sure it is able to drain from it to prevent infections. It is also possible to keep Utricularia minutissima under a bell jar, if you make sure it gets some fresh air regularly.
