Bladderwort alpina (Utricularia alpina) is an indigenous plant from the North of South-America and from the Antilles. This type of Utricularia is epiphytic and therefore does not grow in the soil but on other plants. It is successfully cultivated in plant containers. You can grow Utricularia alpina indoors on a window-sill or in a plant display case with artificial light. The flowers are large in relation to the plant itself; they develop from the tall flower stalks. The flowers that grow yellow spot in the middle. The snares used by the plant to catch insects are small and for the most part belowground.
Bladderwort alpina (Utricularia alpine) thrives in a light area with high humidity. While it prefers being in full light, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight, as this can be too harsh. The ideal temperature range for Utricularia alpine is between 10°C and 30°C (50°F - 86°F), so room temperature is usually sufficient. This carnivorous plant requires a moist soil mixture, but its roots should not be kept constantly submerged in water. A soil mix of 3:1 peat and sand works best for optimal growth. With the right care, Utricularia alpine can flourish even without additional insect feeding, making it a relatively low-maintenance plant as long as it is provided with the right light, humidity, and soil conditions.
