Asplenium nidus is a handsome green fern that grows in the shape of a goblet. It has large, undivided fronds that combine well with different floral or leaf plants in a living room or conservatory. It likes light but must not be exposed to direct sunlight. Asplenium nidus makes an eye-catching addition to the kind of modern interior where green plants have again become a fashionable feature.
The potting compost must be kept evenly moist but never soggy or soaking wet. In a room with a low level of humidity, the slender fronds may acquire brown edges. To produce the required level of humidity, simply place the pot on an inverted dish on top of a second dish containing water. As the water evaporates it will create additional humidity. In general ferns do not require much extra feeding.
