Dischidia imbricata is found in the nature of Thailand, on Indonesia and on some of the surrounding islands. Almost all 80 types of Dischidia, including the D. imbricata, are epiphytes 'Which live on trees' and often grow in ant nests. In the space below the large disc-shaped leave so-called adventive roots grow, which play a part in the symbiosis with the ants. These roots absorb food from the waste the ants leave behind. The ants also fend off other insects for the plant. Dischidias are sometimes called urn plants due to the shape of their flowers.
Don'T overwater the Dischidia imbricata, once every two or three days suffices. Let the soil go 'Nearly' dry in between watering sessions. Use a properly porous soil, such as orchid mix. This plant thrives under high humidity. Bright, indirect, filtered light is optimal. When placed in a terrarium, the amount of light should be medium to intense. Under intense light, the the leaves will turn more red. When dry, the leaves will become more succulent 'Harder'.
