Anthurium veitchii, commonly known as the king Anthurium, produces a climbing rhizome containing aerial roots. Ribbed, elongated heart-shaped leaves emerge from the end of this rhizome and could reach two meters in length when mature, but often stay shorter when grown indoors. It infrequently produces typical inflorescences similar to other members of the aroid family. While this plant is most often propagated by cuttings, sowing is also possible.
Anthurium veitchii is relatively easy to care for when the right growing conditions are met. It demands intermediate to warm, high humidity conditions with a maximum of 30 C. Potting soil should be airy and have an excellent drainage, for example, specialized anthurium or orchid soils is used most often. Water this plant frequently but try to avoid soggy conditions. A pot with many draining holes is preferred. In warm summer months apply fertilizer every month and reduce this by half in winter.
