Anthurium gracile occurs in the wild in Central American countries such as Panama, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Its narrow leaves are between 10 and 30 centimetres long and 5 to 9 centimetres wide. The plant itself is 60 to 90 cm tall. “Gracile” means graceful. Like Anthurium bakeri this plant pollinates itself which means that it automatically produces red berries once the spadix has finished flowering.
Position Anthurium gracile in a bright spot but not exposed to full sun. Keep the potting mix slightly moist. Water often but in small quantities to make sure the potting mix stays moist but not soaking wet. Like most Anthuriums, Anthurium gracile likes humidity, so mist the plant every week. It like temperatures between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius. If desired, give it a little liquid fertiliser during the growing season. Try to plant in a potting mix consisting of 50% ordinary potting compost and 50% orchid mix or perlite.
