Alocasia calidora, the Elephant Ear, is an attractive houseplant with impressive green leaves. Their size, shape and texture are reminiscent of the ears of an elephant. Alocasia calidora comes from south-east Asia. It makes an eye-catching addition to any home or office and moreover, is easy to care for.
Alocasia Calidora is an elephant ear plant that enjoys plenty of light but also grows well in partial shade. Direct sunlight is to be avoided as it damages the plant’s leaves. Alocasia calidora likes moist potting compound so its roots never dry out. Give it plenty of water, for example in a dish under the pot. Mist the plant regularly to ensure the right level of humidity. In winter, Alocasia calidora needs less water. The ambient temperature should be 15-25 degrees Celsius. If the leaves turn brown, they can be removed and new leaves will form. The potting mix must retain moisture well and may also be rich in nutrients.
