Sundew 'Drosera roseana'

Drosera roseana is a pygmy sundew endemic to the south-west of Australia, from the Albany region. Drosera roseana forms small hairy rosettes of 3 to 5 cm. The petiole is short and very thin, ending with small oval trapping leaves. The colour of the trapping leaves depends on the lighting conditions, and can vary from yellow-green to pink to even a deep red. Drosera roseana grows a large cluster of small brood bodies known as gemmae, which erupt from the centre of the tiny rosette. These gemmae can be grown into a clone of the mother plant in moist soil.



Drosera roseana is best cultivated in mixture of sand, peat and perlite. The Drosera roseana is suitable for a sunny windowsill or a terrarium. When the small gemmae are ripe, they can be removed and grown into clones.
