The bladderwort Utricularia blanchetii probably has one of the most beautiful inflorescence of all the Utriculoria species. Protruding high above the ground from strong flower stalks, they have purple petals with dark veins. What makes the Utricularia blanchetii ‘Chapada Diamantina’ so special, is its ability to have dozens of flowers blossom simultaneously. The variation ‘Chapada Diamantina’ originates from its namesake, the Chapada Diamantina nature reserve in Brazil.

Utricularia blanchetii ‘Chapada Diamantina’ is an extraordinary variation naturally found in the state Bahia in the east of Brazil. It’s a bladderwort of medium size with striking colourful flowers. The top petals have dark purple lines. A yellow spot is centralized on the white lip. The flowers grow in large amounts on slightly curled green stalks, high above the foliage. In the wild, the Utricularia blanchetii ‘Chapada Diamantina’ makes its home on stones and other plants.

Utricularia blanchetii ‘Chapada Diamantina’ is easy to take care of. The bladderwort requires a spot with plenty of light, but should be kept away from direct sunlight. It’s recommended to keep this species in a terrarium, as it needs a humidity of 80% and temperature of 25⁰C to truly thrive. It could also be placed in a humid spot on the windowsill.
