This species is propagated by dividing mature plants.
Plant careDracula lotax occurs in damp montane forests of Ecuador and Peru at altitudes from 600 to 1800 meters. The species grows on branches of trees as an epiphyte. Cultivate this species in temperatures of 14 to 25 degrees. Higher temperatures are endured with more difficulty. This species demands a higher humidity of at least 75%, higher is preferable. Growing this species in a cool greenhouse of terrarium is advised. Light conditions could be relatively shady, try to avoid direct sunlight hitting the leaves. Pot this plant in an airy mixture for epiphytes, consisting for the main part of sphagnum moss. Make sure that the mixture never dries out completely between waterings but prevent soggy conditions as this will suffocate the roots. Fertilize the plant once a week with specialized orchid fertilizer, 1/4 the recommended strength.
