The leaves of Cyclanthus bipartitus is what makes this plant fascinating. Growing up to a meter in length, the stalked leaves are bifurcated making the leaves look like rabbit ears. The deep green leaves have parallel venation with a pronounced central vein. In good condition could this plant, that grows up to three meters in the wild, produces flowers. From the base of the plant a stalked inflorescence arises, enclosed with a faint yellow bract. Flowers form a ringed pyramid like structure and produce a scent comparable to cinnamon and vanilla. In tropical countries this plant is used medicinally. Propagation is commonly done by root ball division.

Cyclanthus bipartitus demands a warm and relatively humid environment. Low temperatures are endured but for optimal growth temperature should be above 16 degrees Centigrade. Naturally, this plant grows in understories of humid tropical forests, so shade or partial shade is sufficient. Place this plant in the warmer rooms of the house or in a greenhouse. This plant grows best in organic humus rich soils that is kept always moist. Prevent the root ball from drying out completely but do not make the soil soggy. Apply fertilizer for green plants from spring to autumn according to description.
