De Begonia ‘’Silver Jewel’’ is een hybride plant die ontstaan is uit een kruising tussen de Begonia pustulata en de Begonia imperialis. Deze beide soorten komen oorspronkelijk uit Mexico. De ‘’Silver Jewel’’ is een erg populaire hybride plant en won zelfs de Award of Garden Merit, uitgereikt door de Royal Horticultural Society.
