Product infoBegonia hemsleyana ‘Variagata’ is a rare subtropical plant from the Yunnan, China. This plant grows up to about half a meter and stands out because of its extraordinary leaves. These are palmate and consist of a maximum of eight leaflets. Leaflets are elongated, ovoid and have a serrated leaf margin. The main color of the leaves is dark green with a bright silver spotted pattern. The underside of the leaves are red to purple. Leaves are carried by a red, hairy petiole which grows from a rhizome below ground. When mature, the plant produces pink flowers with a yellow center, that are either male or female. Propagation is easiest by taking cutting of larger stems or leaves. When both sexes of flowers are present, it could be propagated by seed as well.
