Product info
Nepenthes aristolochiodes is a highland variety with uniquely shaped purplish green pitchers. Theoretically it can grow to a height of 8 metres, though this is unlikely in a normal domestic setting. However, it does produce clusters of yellowish brown flowers that can be as big as 30 centimetres.
Plant care
As with other Nepenthes species, Nepenthes aristolochiodes requires a great deal of sunlight, but not full sun or it will become dehydrated. The best temperature to cultivate this species is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, certainly no higher than 30 degrees. It requires a somewhat lower night-time temperature of around 10 degrees Celsius. It should be given rainwater or distilled water at regular intervals but the water must drain effectively from the growing medium and the pot. It should also be sprayed with water regularly to ensure the pitchers are not empty. The location of this plant must have a relatively high level of humidity. The best growing medium is neutral to slightly acidic peat. No additional feeding with plant food is required. If the plant becomes too big, it can be pruned.
