Specifications
Nepenthes alata 'Real one'

Nepenthes alata, a tropical pitcher plant from the Philippines, is one of the most popular Nepenthes. It owes its popularity to the fact that it is so sturdy and tough. There are many different varieties of this species. The one supplied by Araflora is close to the botanical variety. Nepenthes alata is recommended for novice growers who have little or no experience of carnivorous pitcher plants.

Plant care

This species requires a great deal of light but should not be positioned in direct sunlight or it will become dehydrated. It needs watering regularly with rainwater or distilled water. The leaves and pitchers should be sprayed regularly with a plant spray. The pot must drain effectively to prevent the roots from rotting. The best temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius and preferably no lower than 10 degrees Celsius or higher than 30 degrees Celsius. Nepenthes alata will produce the most pitchers when it enjoys a high degree of humidity. If Nepthenes alata becomes too tall, it can be pruned. The best type of growing medium is neutral to slightly acidic peat which drains easily. The plant does not require feeding of any kind.
