Orchid 'Macodes sanderiana'

With its very attractive and decorative veined leaves Macodes sanderiana stands out in any orchid collection or terrarium. It is found in many places in SE Asia where it grows at lower altitudes on rain forest floors in warm, humid and shady conditions. In culture it prefers evenly moist conditions throughout the year. Its creeping habit and shallow root system demand a rather shallow container where in autumn it will produce some 15 small, non-resupinate flowers on an erect up to 8” or 20 cm inflorescence. A gem!
