Product info
Phalaenopsis schilleriana is endemic to the Philippines. The orchid can grow to approximately 30 cm and have more than ten flowers. The flowers are light pink with white edges. Often there are different brown dots on the flowers. The lip along with the pollen grains in the center of the flower form an image that resembles an angel. Phalaenopsis schilleriana also has black striped lancet-shaped leaves, which makes the orchid attractive even when not in bloom.
Plant care
Place the Phalaenopsis schilleriana in a light place out of direct sunlight. The humidity in the average living room is sufficient, but it can help to maintain this with a water container against the radiator. The optimum temperature for the orchid is around 22⁰C. The temperature should not fall below 15⁰C or rise above 35⁰C. Give the plant rain or distilled water. This will amount to watering three to five times a week. You should only water Phalaenopsis schilleriana once the soil has dried slightly. This helps, just like good air circulation, to prevent infections and diseases. Orchid mix mixed with sphagnum is a suitable substrate. Make sure that water can drain out easily. You can find orchid mix and other growing supplies under our "plant accessories" section. Phalaenopsis schilleriana requires little or no fertilization. It is best to cut out flowers that have finished blooming from the plant.
