Plant care

Because Scaphosepalum verrucosum is found in mountainous regions it needs slightly lower temperatures. During the day it needs between 18⁰C and 22⁰C and in during the night this may drop to 12⁰C. Temperatures below 5⁰C or above 25⁰C can prove to be too much for this orchid. This orchid doesn't need a lot of light and should always be kept out of direct sunlight, to prevent it from drying out. The humidity of its surroundings should be 80% and slightly higher during the night. Water it with plenty of rainwater or distilled water during its blossoming and less in its period of rest. Proper airflow combined with a proper humidity will help prevent infections and disease. Scaphosepalum verrucosum can be kept in a pot with shredded bark, or attached to a piece of bark with moss. You can find this and other components in our ‘Plant Accessories’ section. Fertilize when needed. Old flowers can be cut from the plant.
