Product infoBegonia ‘Glowing embers’ produces numerous orange flowers, each with four tepals (petals and sepals) on a dense, shrub-like leaf base. Its leaves are purple on the underside and bronze-green on the upper surface. They are heart-shaped and asymmetrical like those of many other begonias. Begonia ‘Glowing embers’ will grow to be 30 centimetres tall and 30 centimetres wide.
Plant careBegonia ‘Glowing embers’ needs little maintenance. In the winter months, it can be placed in direct sunlight as well as in partial shade. It can be grown outside as long as the temperature is above 15⁰C. The temperature must never be lower than 10⁰C or higher than 30⁰C. Humidity of 50% is sufficient as long as a dish containing a moderate amount of water is placed under the pot. Surrounding the plant with sphagnum moss or other water-absorbent material is a good way of retaining the necessary moisture. Fertilise once or twice a month. Begonia ‘Glowing embers’ needs a growing mixture that retains water but at the same time drains easily. A mixture of peat and perlite is ideal for this purpose. See “Plant accessories” for more information. If growth becomes excessive, the plant can be pruned.
