Tropical pitcher plant 'Nepenthes gymnamphora 'Starter''

CarniNep110
Specifications
Nepenthes gymnamphora 'Starter'

This carnivorous plant is endemic to Java and Sumatra. It derives its name from the absence of hairs on its pitchers, although it is by no means the only Nepthenes with this feature. The pitchers are a deep purple colour with a white interior. Young plants of this type is an ideal “starter” for a less-experienced customer or novice grower, as they are the right kind of size and relatively easy to cultivate.

Plant care

Like other Nepenthes species, Nepenthes gymnamphora requires a great deal of sunlight, but not direct sunlight or it will become dehydrated. The best temperature to cultivate this species is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, certainly no lower than 10 degrees Celsius and no higher than 30 degrees. It should be watered regularly with rainwater or distilled water to ensure that it stays moist. It should also be sprayed with water at regular intervals to ensure the pitchers are not empty. The plant must be cultivated in an environment with a relatively high level of humidity. The best growing medium is neutral to slightly acidic peat. No additional feeding is required. It can be pruned if it becomes too big.
