Alocasia x Stingray

Alocasia x calidora, also known as elephant ear or Taro, is an appealing houseplant with remarkable leaves. The leaves are large and green and have a shape reminiscent of a water lily. Some people see the shape of a elephant'S ear in them. Alocasia occurs naturally in South-East Asia. As houseplant or at the office, this is a real eye catcher which is nonetheless easy to keep.

The elephant ear likes a bright spot, but can also grow in a partially shady spot. Direct sunlight doesn'T benefit this type, as it will soon become too warm which can damage the leaves. Alocasia x calidora likes a moist soil and its roots should not dry out. So, water it regularly, for example with a dish under the pot. Mist the plant regularly to ensure higher humidity. In winter the plant absorbs less water. Keep the ambient temperature below 20 degrees Celsius. The soil must retain moisture and can be rich in nutrients.
