Orchid180
Specifications
Coelogyne fimbriata

This pretty orchid has light yellow flower petals with a brown lip. The lip has frayed edges, giving the flower a lovely look. There is such a great variety of colour and shape of the flower that it was presumed for a long time that Coelogyne fimbriata consisted of multiple species. Coelogyne fimbriata is found throughout almost all of Southeast Asia, which makes it an easy type to take care of. Perfect for beginners!

Product info

Coelogyne fimbriata has spread from Nepal to Malaysia. It grows quickly and doesn't need much. This species is epiphytic, meaning it grows upon other plants. The leaves spring from bulbs which are formed at the rhizome (root). They grow into points at the tip and reach a length of up to 12 centimetre. The flower of Coelogyne fimbriata is light yellow with brown veins running through the lip. The column (the part containing pollen) is slightly darker.

Plant care

This type is very easy to take care of. Due to its origin it's quite easy to cultivate it at lower temperatures. This orchid will be able to grow at 20⁰C, but a temperature around 25⁰C would be more ideal. Don't let the temperature drop below 15⁰C or rise above 30⁰C. Coelogyne fimbriata likes a humidity around 80%. Place the orchid in half-shade, avoiding direct sunlight. For the best results, water the plant using rainwater or distilled water whenever the substrate dries slightly. In practice this will be watering three to five times a week. A proper airflow will help prevent infections and disease. Orchid-mix will be a suitable substrate. You can find this and other components in our ‘Plant Accessories’ section. Make sure moisture is able to drain from it. If your orchid gets too big, feel free to prune it. Fertilize Coelogyne fimbriata with caution
