Product info
Begonia lanceolata produces beautiful leaves the shape of feathers covered in hairs. Silver spots on their upper surfaces add to their attractive appearance. The flowers are white, turning slightly pink towards the centre. Yellow stamens or a yellow pistil stand out against this pink background.
Plant care
Begonia lanceolata may be something of a challenge but if essential rules are observed, virtually nothing can go wrong. The plant needs a cool spot in total shade with a temperature of around 22⁰C. It needs daytime humidity of 70% and 90% at night. The growing medium must be kept slightly moist with the addition of lukewarm water if it is in danger of drying out. A mixture of peat and coconut fibre serves as a good growing medium. See the section entitled ‘Plant accessories’ for more details. If the plant does not seem to be growing satisfactorily, fertilise it with plant food twice a month.
