Product infoAlocasia sanderiana'S native habitat is the Philippines and Malaysia. The plant is also known as the kris plant due to the wavy edges of its leaves which are reminiscent of the wavy blade of a kris, or kalis dagger. The color of the leaf is characteristic, a blueish green. In nature this species can grow tall, but when cultivated it stays considerably shorter: about 60-80 centimeter. This species is in danger of extinction. Cultivated specimens have leaves which are about 30-40 centimeter long and 15-20 centimeter wide, on a stalk which reaches up to 60 centimeters. The cream-colored 'Flower' consists of a spathe and a flask. Orange-red berries can be formed upon fertilization.
Plant careAlocasia sanderiana is a house plant which thrives at temperatures about 18 degrees Celsius and at high humidity. At a lower temperature the leaves grow less well. This plant is not hardy.
