Product info
Utricularia quelchii x praetermissa is a hybrid of Utricularia praetermissa, which is mainly found in Costa Rica and Nicaragua in Central America, and the plateau species Utricularia quelchii from Guyana, Brazil and Venezuela. The first species has a white flower with a yellow heart, while the second one has a red pink colour. This combination creates a pink flower with an almost luminescent yellow centre. The flowers of Utricularia quelchii x praetermissa are found on sturdy stems of a few centimetre. The green leaves are longer than they are wide and grow from reddish stems.
Plant care
Utricularia quelchii x praetermissa needs quite a light spot to flourish. A high humidity and a temperature of 25⁰C is also important. During the night this may drop a few degrees. Make sure the soil around the bladderwort does not dry out by moistening the substrate with rainwater or distilled water. The substrate is ideally a mixture of peat moss and perlite or pumice. Utricularia quelchii x praetermissa can also be attached to a piece of bark, because the original species also grow upon trees. We offer this and other components in our 'Plant Accessories' section. It is also possible to keep this carnivore under a bell jar, as long as you make sure it gets fresh air regularly.
