In the heart of these cup-shaped Neoregelia schultesiana 'Fireball' (M) plants there should always be a layer of water, where under the right conditions small purple-blue flowers will form. At insufficient light the flowers wither quickly and the plant then often rots away. Arafloras plants are kept at 10-30 cm from the lamps. After blooming these neoregelias are quick to form new young plants. These young plants grow at a small distance from the motherplant, creating beautiful bromeliad pollen.
