Product infoThis is an easy care orchid and the natural distriution of Dendrobium loddigesii is south of China and in big parts of Laos and Vietnam, at an altitude ranging from 1000 to 1500 m. In these wooded areas the plant is accustomed to arid winters and humid summers. However, the plant can sustain under a wide range of circumstances. Dendrobium loddigesii can bloom on rocks, in trees or on earth. The lilac/yellow flowers that appear during blossoming are up to 5 cm big and attached to a stem that is 7,5 cm long. The orchid forms buds in the end of December and blooms in April.
Plant careOffer plenty of warmth during the summer growing season (night temperatures ranging from 19 to 24 degrees Celsius) and water with the right nutrients, preferably special orchid nutrition. During the dormant period after the growing season Dendrobium loddigesii does not require watering anymore, but plenty of light still needs to be supplied. After all, in wooded area in the wild, trees do not carry leaves and more sunlight penetrates to the plants on the bottom of the woods than during summer. An altering temperature between day and night over the course of the entire year has a positive effect on the blooming intensity of Dendrobium loddigesii
