Sundew 'Drosera anglica'

As insects get stuck on its leaves, the dew drop covered tentacles fold around the insect to digest it using enzymes. Because this sundew grows in northern regions, it hibernates in the form of a compact bud. This Drosera is often confused with the Drosera intermedia. The difference is in the inflorescence: in the Drosera anglica the flower stalk grows from the heart straight up. In the Drosera intermedia the flower stalk grows sideways first, and then upwards.

The Drosera anglica grows best on an fluffy mixture of peat and perlite. In summer or growing season, its pot should constantly be left in a dish of water.
