Product infoAmorphophallus myosuroides is a tropical species that was discovered in 2005 in the tropical forests of Laos. It is a miniature species approximately 17 cm tall, making it an ideal species to keep in a terrarium. The voodoo lily grows through an underground tuber. Amorphophallus myosuroides has a growing and resting period, which causes the flower and leaves to wilt annually. With this species it is possible to see several flowers develop during a flowering period. This can even happen simultaneously with the development of the leaf. The flower has a white bract with a long thin cream-colored flowering spike in the center. The five-fingered leaves of Amorphophallus myosuroides also have a beautiful shine.
Plant careIt is best to keep Amorphophallus myosuroides at a temperature of at least 20°C. Ideally, the temperature is around 27°C during the flowering period. It may be 5°C lower during the rest period. It’s best to keep the humidity around 70% during the flowering period to mimic the tropical conditions. As with other species from the Arum family, it is very important not to leave the soil too wet, but to allow it to dry a little before watering again. It helps to put a water-permeable material at the bottom of the pot, such as bark, or a mix of bark and pumice. During the rest period the amount of water can be reduced to once a month. Please note that the tubers cannot dry out completely. You can give Amorphophallus myosuroides normal plant food if you want to give the plant a helping hand.
