This lovely orchid is a strong grower that readily forms mats covering a larger area, “larger” being a relative term since E. porpax is a real miniature species. Found in wet montane and cloud forests in large parts of Central and South America it is an adaptable species whose leaves, however, will turn reddish from too much exposure to sunlight. It is relatively easy to grow in warm to intermediate conditions, needing water and good drainage throughout the year. When in bloom simultaneously, the many fragrant flowers will provide a spectacular and colourful sight.
