Product infoIn the right conditions, this species will gradually grow to a height of several metres but it can easily be pruned to keep its size manageable. The pitchers are green, often with additional red markings. Nepenthes alata can be grown in a hanging basket or in a free-standing pot. It produces clusters of yellowish brown flowers throughout the year.
Plant careThis species requires a great deal of light but should not be positioned in direct sunlight or it will become dehydrated. It needs watering regularly with rainwater or distilled water. The leaves and pitchers should be sprayed regularly with a plant spray. The pot must drain effectively to prevent the roots from rotting. The best temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius and preferably no lower than 10 degrees Celsius or higher than 30 degrees Celsius. Nepenthes alata will produce the most pitchers when it enjoys a high degree of humidity. If Nepthenes alata becomes too tall, it can be pruned. The best type of growing medium is neutral to slightly acidic peat which drains easily. The plant does not require feeding of any kind.
