Product infoIn the tropical forests of the Brazilian coast you will find Ornithophora radicans. It grows on trees there, so you can also keep it on a piece of bark at your home. The leaves of Ornithophora radicans are long, pointy and narrow, reaching a length of around 15 centimetre. The flowers are small, but numerous. They have a white lip and light green petals. A brown part with a yellow head grows from these flowers.
Plant careOrnithophora radicans flourishes in warm surroundings of 25⁰C. Don't let the temperature drop below 15⁰C or rise above 30⁰C. The habitat of Ornithophora radicans should have a humidity around 80%. The orchid should be in a semi-light spot, but avoid direct sunlight. Water the plant when the substrate has dried slightly. Water the plant using rainwater or distilled water to prevent the accumulation of minerals. In practice this will be watering three to five times a week. Every now and then you can add plant nutrition to this. During the period of rest, water is less and give it more light. Proper airflow will help prevent infections and disease. Orchid-mix is a suitable substrate for Ornithophora radican. You can find this and other components in our ‘Plant Accessories’ section. Make sure moisture is able to drain from it. Old flowers can be cut from the plant.
