Gert Hoogenstrijd, founder of Araflora, was born in 1967 in the municipality of Waterland. At an early age he went into nature with his father in search of turtles and salamanders. He is an energy and environmental expert with a doctorate in biology. He has traveled extensively and worked and lived there temporarily in various places in Asia, Africa and Latin America. This gave him the opportunity to search for new plants along untrodden paths. He is an expert in the field of exotic and carnivorous plants, which he has been growing since he was sixteen years old. He has turned his passion into his profession and therefore founded Araflora.
